Adding product options in CS-Cart is a breeze for any website owner. You can setup as many product options and option combinations as you need for the products you are selling in your eCommerce store. From dress sizes and colours, to required extras for computer parts, CS cart allows you to set up the product options so that your customers can purchase exactly what they need from your online store.

Start by locating a product you need to apply options too, and click the “Options” tab. You will be able to create your various options.

Select ‘Add Option’ on the right hand side of the page. You will now need to add the ‘General’ information about your product options. i.e. ‘iPhone Colour’ or ‘Dress Size’. Information about what the options do are always a good thing, people are drawn to sellers who provide as much information about their products.

CS-Cart gives you the ability to display product options in a variety of formats include checkbox, radio options, dropdown lists and text entry. In this guide we will be going for the ‘Dropdown List’ for our store.

We can add all of the option information. Add the name of the option so that people know what it is they are selecting. For example ‘iPhone 5c Red’.  The product option configurator allows you to set price variations on different options, giving you the ability to increase or decrease the price.  It is also possible to add weight to the option which will apply to the shipping cost. Select the ‘Extra’ button to upload images to your options.

Remember, great images sell products. People will be reluctant to purchase your products if your images are blurred or appear too small. CS-Cart will auto resize your images for thumbnails, so you must make sure that your images are clean, clear and large. This will stop them from becoming pixelated and generally looking bad.

If you have multiple options available you may wish for them to be shown in a particular order. For example, if you are selling a dress and you would like it to show ‘8, 10, 12, 14, 16’ etc, we will need to work out how many product options you have. Say we have five different dress options. You will see a tab next to each option you have set up. This is the ‘Position’ tab. All you will need to do is number this 1 – 5 and this will automatically order your options.

Finally, to publish your options onto your live site. Click the ‘Create’ button that sits in the top right hand of the screen once you are happy with how everything looks.
