Google Now Factoring HTTPS Support Into Ranking.

We all know how important it is to be on the first page of Google search results. So when Google announced last week that HTTPS would now be a factor in the algorithm we thought we’d write a quick blog on the subject.

So what is HTTPS?

Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure is the safer and secure version of HTTP which is commonly used during the checkout process on ecommerce websites. HTTPS ensures that only the server that the website is on can read any data you send to the website. For example, if you fill out a request form on a website, no other servers will be able to view this information.

How do I know if a website is HTTPS?

The primary way of identifying  a secure website is by the URL. The URL should begin with https:// instead of http://. Another way you can identify a secure website would be from your web browser. For example, both Internet Explore and Google Chrome display a padlock icon beside the URL
